Experimenting With New Plant Pots
So we recently discovered bag pots. Basically heavy duty bags with drainage holes, designed to be used as plant pots. We thought we would give them a go and this is our verdict. The pros and the cons.
The pros
- Firstly the cost. They are a third of the cost of the usual plant pots we usually get.
- They pack together way more tightly taking up less space in storage
- Easier to remove the plants from the pots for replanting
- Easier to wrap and pack for posting plants in transit
- By using a larger bag than needed and not filling it to the top I feel it helps keep the plants more compacted in theyre place. Especially vines.
The cons
- You can only carry one pot at a time with both hands, comparted to multiple of the traditional pots
- The holes in the bottom are overly large.
- We still need to see if they will survive the test of time and make it though the summer heat without deteriating. Fingers crossed.
- They depend more on the plant holding the shape and can slouch once they are placed down. Compared to traditional pots that hold the positon of the plant more upright.
Have you tried using bag pots? What are your thoughts? We would love to hear your feedback. Would you consider giving bag pots a go?
Until next time, Happy Gardening!
