Racing against the clock.
Throughout the year there are gardening tasks that must be done at the right time. If you miss the boat, you have to wait till the following year. So we're getting in there early. First in line.
Making the most of the first sunshine we've had in a while today was pure bliss down at the secret garden where we grow our plants.
Today we planted out loads of new plants ready for the follwing years to come. Including, plums, cherrys, hebe, weigela, and a variety of roses. Hype!
We can finally see the perennials popping their heads out of the soil, which is super exciting. We also have loads of new plants ready to go in the ground at the secret garden that will later be used as base plant for cuttings.
Now is a great time to get planting ready for summer. And trim back any long laggy branches on shrubs and trees to encourage the plant to grow thicker and bushier this year. There is also plenty of last years faded plants that need clearing up. We just need a few more dry days and we can start cutting the grass.
We have also started bringing the plants that had been put in shelter over the winter back outside to enjoy the good weather.
It's so much joy to finally see everything coming back to life and new buds apprearing on plants that have been in a dormant state over the winter.
Spring is definitely our favourite time of year. And there is plenty of work to keep us busy. The race is on!
What are your favourite spring plants blooming this time of year? We would love to hear from you in the comments.
Until next time Happy gardening!
