Also known as European Willow or French Willow. Native to Northern Europe and northwest Asia. Pussy Willow is grown for its attractive  winter fluffy white catkins which will thrive throughout the frosty season, followed by elliptic serrate shaped leaves. Pussy willow is a fast growing tree or can be shaped into an ornamental shrub, and is also suitable as a hedging plant. Will grow up to 4 - 8 m tall over 10 -20 years. The winter branches can also be used as part of a florist bouquet. While salicin can have medicinal properties for humans, please note this plant is toxic to animals, especially dogs, cats, and horses, if consumed. This plant will self seed.
