Fast growing - Autumn colour - Ornamental plant - Hedging or wall climbing shrub
Cotoneaster franchetii makes a lovely informal cotoneaster hedge or wall shrub, grown peat-free in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Cotoneaster Franchetii, also known as franchets contoneaster or orange contoneaster. Native to China and Thailand. A popular ornamental shrub producing oval acute dark green leaves, white flowers tinted with pink in early summer, followed by red pome berries in the Autumn. This is an easy and fast growing, low maintenance plant. Suitable for hedging, city courtyard gardens, coastal and countryside cottage gardens. Will grow in full sun or shady area. Its dense, hairy leaves soak up at least 20% more air pollution than many of the shrubs usually planted along roadsides. Please note cotoneaster berries are toxic to pets and humans if consumed.
